Dozens of flies

catch the amber glow,

paralyzed midair over the sunlit lawn,

an end-of-day cheerleading show

as the scoreboard sang 0-0.

A spotlight

right into the cracks and crevices of golden ore,

dust of an untouched book twinkling

as the sun captures

every one in its rapture.

Almost fourteen, my sister asks,

Did you see those sparkles across the turf?

She swam through them, enveloped by stars.

and sank the ball deep into the net: 1-0.
