Some people visit

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā for a dayĀ

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā or threeĀ

when the sun’s outĀ

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā and it’s eighty degrees,Ā

but the suitcase stays packed

—only a holiday,

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā calm and serene.

Some people are ocean-obsessed

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  beach-themed bathroom,

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Ā shelves adorned with shells,

Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā no shoes inside

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  so there’s less mess.

ā€œIt’s my therapy,ā€

Ā  Ā Ā Ā Ā they dote,Ā

but why all this baronyĀ

Ā  Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā if not to gloat?Ā

Bulldozing dunes to build a deck,

all to save a few dozen steps,Ā

try to bottle up the beach,Ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā so comforting,

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā so prized,

as the tides erode the foundation sides.

Not about the luxury,Ā Ā

or even the serenity;

see her ebbs and flows—

Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā mischievous gulls,Ā

Ā  Ā Ā Ā little littered bodiesĀ

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Ā  Ā of horseshoe crabs,

Ā  Ā Ā Ā Ā sand between their toes,

they track her into the houseĀ

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā lovingly,Ā

because the mess is a reminder,

sweet on the

smell of

seaweed.Ā
